Business Development

Steve LaVersa
Partner, Head of Business Development

Mr. LaVersa has 30 years of experience working with institutional and HNW investors and their advisors globally.  At Gramercy, he heads the Business Development team and focuses on pension plans, insurance companies, endowments/foundations, fund of funds, family offices and consultants. 

Prior to joining Gramercy in 2011, Mr. LaVersa was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tower Lane Partners.  Prior to founding Tower Lane Partners, he spent 6 years at FrontPoint Partners, most recently as Co-Head of the Client Advisory Group.  From 1997 to 2003, Mr. LaVersa worked in the Investment Management Division at Goldman Sachs. He began his career at Federated Investors where he worked from 1987-1997.

Mr. LaVersa received a BA in Economics and History from Denison University.

Joe Griffin
Managing Director, Business Development

Mr. Griffin has 17 years of industry experience. At Gramercy, he focuses on new business development across a diverse set of institutional investors, including endowments/foundations, pension plans, fund of funds and high net worth investors such as private banking platforms, family offices.

Prior to joining Gramercy in September 2009, Mr. Griffin was employed by Lazard Asset Management for nine years where he was a Senior Vice President in the Institutional Marketing Group. He was responsible for developing new relationships and servicing existing clients in the corporate pension market segment.

Mr. Griffin received a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University in 2000.

John Flynn, CFA
Managing Director, Business Development

Mr. Flynn has 23 years of experience working with institutional asset management firms and investors globally.  At Gramercy, he focuses on new business development across a diverse set of institutional investors, including endowments/foundations, pension plans, insurance companies, consultants and high net worth investors. 

Prior to joining Gramercy in 2017, Mr. Flynn was the Head of Relationship Management at SKY Harbor Capital, a boutique investment management firm focused on the leveraged finance markets.  Previously he was a senior business development officer at BlackRock and held portfolio management, product management, and structured credit roles at General Electric and Citi Alternative Investments.  He began his career at Morgan Stanley in 1993.  

Mr. Flynn received a BS in Accounting from Plattsburgh State and a MBA in Finance from Fordham University.  He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Jennifer Mandes
Senior Vice President, Business Development

Ms. Mandes has ten years of industry experience.  At Gramercy, she focuses on new business development across a diverse set of institutional investors, including endowments/foundations, pension plans, fund of funds and high net worth investors such as private banking platforms, family offices.

Prior to joining Gramercy, Ms. Mandes was employed by Avenue Capital Group, a distressed debt firm which invests in public and private debt and equity securities of distressed companies across various industries. At Avenue, Ms. Mandes spent four years raising capital and developing client relationships. She was charged with sourcing, organizing and conducting calls and meetings, coordinating prospective investor events and preparing customized marketing materials. Prior to Avenue, Ms. Mandes was an Investor Relations and Client Service Associate at Silver Point Capital, a distressed debt hedge fund.

Ms. Mandes received a BA in Sociology from Harvard University.
